We’re kicking off the new year with the incredible news that we’ve won a prestigious award for our revolutionary Accessible Pushchair for parents and carers who use manual wheelchairs.

The GOOD DESIGN Awards

Founded in Chicago in 1950 by Eero Saarinen and Charles and Ray Eames, the GOOD DESIGN Awards remains the oldest and the world’s most recognised program for design excellence worldwide.

Designability’s Director of Design & Innovation, Matt Ford said, “It is fantastic to have our work recognised by the Good Design Awards. For more than 55 years Designability has been working with disabled people to create inclusive products for everyday life.”

"There are thousands of different pushchairs on the market, but ours is the only one that's been designed to meet the needs of parents who are wheelchair users.”

The accessible pushchair has the potential to change lives

Extensive product testing has already gathered positive feedback from the disabled community, as mum of three, Ali Nye, testifies: “The Accessible Pushchair has made me feel like a better parent because I can take part in these day-to-day activities. It’s made me more active in my child’s life. I also feel more confident because I’m not having to ask for help.”

As the demand for more inclusive products rises, the accessible pushchair market is expected to grow, with pushchair companies looking to expand their pushchair ranges to meet the needs of all parents and lifestyles.

Matt Ford comments “We’ve shown that it is possible to design an accessible product without compromising on design, functionality, or affordability. This is a product that really can change the lives of the disabled parents who need it.”

We will soon be making 20 of the pushchairs available free of charge
