Designing a fairer future

Everyday, disabled people, unpaid carers and parents of disabled children are finding ways to hack products so they work for them, or access services that haven’t been designed with them in mind. But they shouldn’t have to. The world can and should be designed for everyone.

Too many products, services and spaces still miss the mark, limiting independence, dignity and opportunity.

At Designability, we’ve seen how lived experience leads to better solutions. Products like our Accessible Pushchair exist because disabled people shared their experiences and helped shape what came next.

This year we launched The Unfair Index to understand where everyday life is most unfair, and where change is most urgently needed.

We will be launching The Unfair Index findings soon

The Unfair Index report representing the views of over 4,000 responses from people with lived experience of disability launches October 2026 and you can be the first to receive it.

Led by Lived Experience

This research has been shaped by disabled people, parents and carers through our Lived Experience Advisory Group.

They have been involved throughout the project, shaping every aspect of the research, from the questions we ask and how we ask them, to how we interpret and use the findings.

Their expertise and lived experience are central to this work, ensuring the surveys reflected real experiences and focused on what matters most.

Want to help us take action?

We are looking for organisations who want to take action on accessibility and inclusion, but lack credible lived experience-led evidence. The Unfair Index will give you access to national insight and real stories.
