Could you join our Board of Trustees and help people with disabilities to live with greater independence?
Designability is a national charity which designs and provides innovative products which transform the lives of people with disabilities.
We work with adults and children with primarily physical disabilities, creating life changing assistive products and technologies, through every stage from research and engagement, product design, prototyping and manufacturing. Products are available either for sale or through our charitably funded loan schemes.
We want products and technology to be more accessible to everyone. Our team follow the principles of human-centred design which means that everything we develop is done in response to what people tell us they need. Our aim is for people to achieve greater independence and happiness in their lives – goals that benefit all of society.
Who we are looking for
We are at an exciting time in the development of the organisation and are seeking some more trustees to join us.
We are fortunate to have an active Board of Trustees who have a real enthusiasm for our work and are able to make the necessary time commitment to the role. Successful candidates will need strategic vision, a strong understanding of the role of charity trustee/directors and independent judgement.

- Legal expertise
- Design and creative industry
- Charity leadership
- Manufacturing or engineering
- Finance or accountancy
- Commercial or business
- Health or social care
Previous experience of being a trustee/non-executive director is preferred, but not essential.
