The third annual dragon boat race
The Bath Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 8 September 2019 at Bath Riverside will see teams go head to head in a series of heats in front of crowds of spectators to see who will be crowned top dragons.
Each crew of up to 11 members, to include a drummer to keep everyone in time, will paddle at least three 200m courses in a traditional 30’ dragon boat.
Supporting two charities based in the south west
Everyone who participates in the Bath Dragon Boat Race will be able to fundraise for us at Designability, so that we can design more products and technology to help people living with disabilities or long-term health conditions.
Fiona Cromwell, marketing officer for Designability, said: “We have already had several teams come forward to register for boats, many of which have taken part before and are excited to participate again.
“It would be great to get lots of local businesses, community groups and family and friends coming together to get involved. We can’t promise you won’t get a bit wet, but we can promise you’ll have a great time!”
Details about the event
Each crew member has to be 16 and over but no previous experience is necessary – just plenty of team spirit.
You may enter more than one crew for a bit of added competition. Fancy dress is optional, but encouraged!
The dragon boats, qualified helms and all equipment will be supplied by Gable Events, the company who will be co-ordinating the racing on the day.
The entry fee per boat is £500 and crews are then asked to raise a minimum of £600 in sponsorship to support Designability or Mountain Way.
