Designability has thanked Rita Jolliffe for her tireless efforts in raising awareness and funds for us over the past eight years.
Rita has volunteered for Designability since 2013, working as an advocate of the Wizzybug Loan Scheme taking a Wizzybug around the country for talks and fundraising events.
During her time with Designability she raised over £36,000 with the support of relatives, friends and colleagues at the Inner Wheel.
Rita explained, “In 2013 I was about to become Chair of District 20 Inner Wheel and had been invited to listen to a talk about Wizzybug by former CEO of Designability Nigel Harris.
“I was so taken with Wizzybug that I decided to make it my charity for the year. This raised £22,500 which was a record for any District Chairman’s charity.
“Designability and Wizzybug have been a very important part of my life and I would encourage anyone to volunteer to help this project as they will always be received with enthusiasm.
“One highlight for me was when Nigel and I were asked to present Wizzybug to the Inner Wheel annual conference held in Telford in 2013. As a result I took one to Folkestone and Keighley Inner Wheels who also wanted to raise funds.
“Another was attending Designability’s 50th Anniversary reception at the Hilton in Bath when HRH The Earl of Wessex attended.
“I enjoyed every talk I did as everyone was always so interested and enthusiastic to hear about the project and it was always lovely to come away with money as well.”
Thank you Rita for all of your hard work over the years.
