More Awards for Designability this Spring

This Spring, Designability staff have attended awards ceremonies in Bristol and London and have come away with two more awards.

D M Thomas Foundation Awards

Joey, in his Wizzybug, helped us to collect the “Achieve It” Award in recognition of the life-changing impact of our Wizzybug Loan Scheme on young people that D M Thomas have helped to support.

Simon Vincent, Chairman, DM Thomas said that the “Achieve It” award went to the charity that has made the most difference with the money that DM Thomas has given.

Over the years, DM Thomas have supported Designability to the tune of £31,500 for our Wizzybug Loan Scheme, which offers powered mobility for children under 5 to be able to move independently, often for the first time.

Joey was the youngest attendee and he collected the award with Alex Leach, Commercial Manager and his mum, Dawn.

Dawn said “a huge thank you to Designability for giving Joey his first taste of independent movement! He has certainly learnt the cause and effect with his movements although specific direction may take a while longer! It was a fab day out on Friday. I was so proud of Joey, he really was amazing!”

Medilink Special Achievement Award

Another proud moment was when Alex Leach, Commercial Manager and Keir Haines, Senior Product Designer collected the MLSW Special Achievement Award at an awards ceremony in Bristol.

The award recognises the fact that, over the last 50 years, Designability have created medical and assistive technologies that have transformed people’s lives.

Bath Life Awards

To add to our success, we were also nominated as a Finalist in the Bath Life Awards within the Charity category.  We were selected alongside 7 other worthwhile local charities and Nigel Harris, CEO and Susanne Gaertner, Children’s OT, attended a glittering awards ceremony at The Assembly Rooms, Bath.  Despite not winning our category, we were justly proud to have reached the finals.
