Business Development Lead

We’re at the beginning of a journey to develop and diversify our income streams at Designability and this new role will help us to achieve income growth through playing a pivotal part in realising our opportunities in corporate partnerships and consultancy.

Job Description

To be successful in this role you will need to be a confident relationship builder and communicator at all levels, both in person and via written communications, skilled in understanding donor and client motivations and creating bespoke propositions to match these, maximising income opportunities.

You will need proven experience in client and partnership management to maintain strong ongoing relationships and be an expert networker seeking out new prospects. You’ll need to be tenacious, spotting opportunities to upsell and cross sell in a way that maximises the opportunity for the client and Designability.

Key responsibilities:

  • To deliver agreed income targets, KPIs and strategic objectives for the role on an annual basis, reporting progress on a monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with partners, clients and prospects both in person and remotely to win business, increase income and maintain longstanding relationships.
  • Research businesses and industry trends to identify potential new clients, partners and markets.
  • Produce compelling partner or client facing proposals, reports, presentations and outline business terms as required.
  • Ability to identify and understand organisations motivators and develop bespoke packages tailored to them.
  • Ensure partner or client expectations are being met, or where this may not be possible, carefully managed to secure long term support.
  • Represent Designability at external events and exhibitions, presentations, meetings, networking opportunities and funding / client pitches.
  • Be excellent at getting what you need from colleagues at Designability whether that’s the senior leadership team or anyone across the organisation.
  • Establish close working relationships across Designability, keeping up to date with project developments, organisational changes and in-house skill sets.
  • Ensure all records and partner / client information on the database are up to date, accurate and GDPR compliant.
  • Where appropriate support the wider fundraising team to achieve income targets and objectives for the Fundraising and Communications team.
